Madison Heights is an area across the river from the city of Lynchburg, Virginia. Plans and talks for the revitalization of the area have been held as early as the 2000s.
Undertaking
The project is to revitalize and upgrade the area through housing rehabilitation and infrastructure upgrades in order to draw in more people and businesses. This project has to go through the Section 106 process due to receiving a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) which comes from funds through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Outcomes
A programmatic agreement was signed between Amherst County and the Virginia SHPO regarding the stump-hill area that let the project move forward.
